The Trek Fuel EX 9.7 Gen 5 is a whole suspension trail bike with upper mid-range components.
It features a lightweight and rigid OCLV Full Mountain Carbon frame with internal storage, a 140mm FOX Rhythm 36 fork, and 130mm rear travel with a FOX Float Performance rear shock with efficient RE:aktiv Trek dampers.

The bike also features a wide-range Shimano SLX/XT 1×12 drivetrain, Line Comp 30 TLR wheels with 54-gear Rapid Drive rear hub, Bontrager Line dropper post, and powerful Shimano 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes.
The Fuel EX 9.7 Gen 5 is more straightforward to ride uphill than similar bikes and is geared up much the same as similar bikes for downhill riding.
