2023 Giant Propel Advanced SL 0

The Giant Propel Advanced SL 0 is the Taiwanese behemoth’s latest flagship aero road bike. It is designed to offer the best of both worlds, combining aerodynamic efficiency with low weight.

The frame and fork have a claimed weight of 1,429.5g for a size medium frameset, which is only 163.5g heavier than the latest Giant TCR Advanced SL frameset.

The Propel Advanced SL 0 has a Cadex 50 Ultra Disc wheelset with a claimed weight of just 1,349g. This is light, especially when you factor in the 50mm-deep, aerodynamically optimized hookless rims.

The slim rear end and carbon handlebar do a great job dissipating road buzz and preventing too much build-up of fatigue from riding on rough roads.

The Propel Advanced SL 0 is an impressive machine out on the road. On flat or rolling roads and descents, it doesn’t feel as rapid as the fastest aero road bikes I’ve tested, such as the Cervélo S5 or Cannondale SystemSix, but it runs rings around those bikes on the scales.

The Propel Advanced SL 0’s finishing kit is excellent, apart from one niggly detail. It is priced at US$12,500 / AU$14,000 / £TBC / €11,500.

The other big difference between the Giant Propel Advanced SL and the Propel Advanced Pro is that the former has an integrated Seatpost (ISP). In contrast, the latter has a removable Vector Seatpost. Apart from this, the geometries are identical.

Overall, the Giant Propel Advanced SL 0 is a true do-it-all road bike with few compromises. It might not be the most visually exciting bike or the lightest or fastest road bike available, but it is competitive in practically all areas.

Reviews of the Bike have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising its low weight, aerodynamic efficiency, and excellent handling.
